In the pool, these smart goggles give you real-time info on your heart rate, stroke rate, head angle, yards or meters completed, and much more. You can follow the pre-planned workouts from the app or upload your own workouts to follow. This last feature is not compatible with the iphone SE, which is what I have. In the open water, you can sight on an object and the goggles will give you a compass reading, which is visible even when your face is in the water. You do need to periodically resight to make sure you are still on target. I used them for one season and they did help me learn to swim straighter.
